Eight reports on the latest proceedings from SCVIR. Supported by an educational grant from Amersham Health.
Nycomed Amersham is pleased to continue its long tradition of
providing medical education opportunities in Interventional
Radiology. This year represents the fourth year for the Nycomed
Amersham/SCVIR Fellows Program and the second year that an
educational stipend for the two best presented papers has been
awarded.
The focus has always been to provide fellows in Interventional
Radiology with an opportunity to attend focused clinical meetings
that will enhance their knowledge of new diagnostic and therapeutic
procedures. Additionally, the program allows each fellow an
opportunity to research a specific topic of critical interest to
them and report on their findings in this special supplement to
Applied Radiology
.
We congratulate Peter J. Bromley, MD, Dotter Interventional
Institute, Oregon Health Sciences University, Portland, OR (OHSU),
on his paper entitled, "A brief history of abdominal aortic
endografting," which was judged the best presented. We also
congratulate the runner-up, Jeremy R. Simon, MD, Emory University
Hospital, Atlanta, GA, for his excellent paper entitled, "Uterine
artery embolization for fibroids: Procedure, results, and
complications."
Special mention should be made about the overall high quality of
the submitted papers, and we wish to congratulate all of the
fellows for their contributions.
Nycomed Amersham is particularly grateful to Frederick S.
Keller, MD, OHSU, in his new role as Chair of the Editorial Review
Board. Our thanks also to Albert A. Nemcek, MD, Northwestern
University, Chicago, IL, and John A. Kaufman, MD, OHSU, the other
members of the review board.
We again thank Anderson Publishing, publishers of
Applied Radiology
, for their support of educational programs and for their efforts
in the annual coordination of the program and presentation of this
excellent supplement.
