April 10, 2012 - When time is of the essence, access to medical data can mean life or death. That is why many medical practitioners are viewing images on mobile devices.
ResolutionMD software for diagnosis, from Calgary Scientific, is now available on both the Android platform and iOS. This allows users to view diagnostic medical images across mobile devices, including both smartphones and tablets.
The program acts as a mobile PACS workstation, streaming data from a variety of imaging modalities, with off-site servers preparing it for rapid visualization on a smartphone or tablet. The data is never stored on any device, keeping each patient's sensitive information secure. This separates ResolutionMD from basic viewers, where the information may be stored on numerous devices.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently cleared the ResolutionMD version for the Android platform, enabling medical institutions of all types to have another option when it comes to accessing medical images on mobile devices.
