Summary:
This 50 year-old woman presented to her primary doctor with a swollen, erethematous and inflamed right breast. She was given the presumed diagnosis of mastitis. Antibiotic therapy was initiated but the patient demonstrated no clinical improvement. Subsequent mammography raised the possibility of inflammatory breast cancer. This was proven by dermal biopsy. CT and bone scan demonstrate widely metastatic disease. The patient is currently undergoing therapy.
Q. True or false. The overall prognosis of this patient is good.
