Summary:

A 50-year-old female with a palpable breast mass and a family history of breast cancer presents for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. The patient has not had a mammogram in the past.

Q. What is the most likely diagnosis for multiple bilateral, circumscribed breast masses? (Not necessarily the diagnosis in this case.)

Clearly, the sono image provided was not c/w a cyst but that was not the question. I wonder what a color flow image would have shown.

  • I am confused!! Cool case, but the question asks what is the MOST LIKELY diagnosis with multi bilateral, partially-circumscribed masses . The explanation tells us that "almost universally" it's going to be benign cysts. Are we to NOT choose cysts because we have the benefit of an ultrasound, demonstrating multi-lobulated structures?
