  • i do it preop to detect metastases to axilary LN

  • For BSGI biopsies, there is now recently developed and approved Gamma Loc which looks similar to Breast MRI biopsy grid apparatus. I have not used this device.

  • No, it will not replace the mammography. Its functional test not anatomical,how we can localize the lesion if suspiicous.

  • Gamma imaging did not pick up the node?

  • BSGI will never be a screening exam given the radiation dose to the breast, but it is a problem solver. It is usefull in the right clinical setting. It uses the same dose as a myocardial perfusion study, which is frequently ordered and performed without discussion regarding the breast dose.

  • One must remember that a single BSGI study is equal to a lifetime of mammograms in regards to the radiation dose.
