Adult pathology in the pediatric gastrointestinal tract
Roger K. Harned II, MD
Abstract: As in most aspects of pediatrics, the radiologist cannont consider the gastrointestinal tract of the child simply as a smaller version of the adult organs. The differential diagnoses generated from such findings as obstruction, fold thickening, mass, and so forth can vary markedly based soley on the age of the patient. It is important t remember that diseases commonly seen in the adult popluation can be found uncommonly in infants and children.
