Ultrasound evaluation of transjugular intraheptic portosytemic shunts (TIPS)

Abstract: Transjugular intraheptic portosytemic shunts (TIPS) currently are performed for the treatment of recurrent GI bleeding and refractory ascites in patients with protal hypertension. Shunt malfunction occurs frequently and may be detected easily in a noninvasive fashion with ultrasound.
