Abstract:  ystic biliary disease is an uncommon process affecting the hepatobiliary system. It includes such entities as choledochal cysts, choledochocele, and Caroli's disease. The radiographic evaluation of cystic biliary disease is essential for diagnosis and treatment. Many of the imaging features of cystic biliary disease using various modalities are presented here.

Cystic biliary disease is an uncommon process affecting the hepatobiliary system. It includes such entities as choledochal cysts, choledochocele, and Caroli’s disease. The radiographic evaluation of cystic biliary disease is essential for diagnosis and treatment as well as determining the presence of associated complications, such as obstruction and cholelithiasis. Ultrasound is used for initial evaluation, particularly in the setting of right upper quadrant pain and jaundice. Nuclear scintigraphy is helpful to demonstrate continuity of cystic structures in the liver or porta hepatis with the biliary system and for excluding biliary obstruction.
