Early diagnosis and treatment are important to prevent or delay hip degeneration in these patients. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and MR arthrography are important modalities to diagnose FAI and resulting changes in the hip. The authors describe 2 proposed mechanisms for FAI, imaging of the morphologic abnormalities, and secondary changes seen around the hip as a result of FAI.</p>
