Ultrasound, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging can be used as complementary modalities for optimal lesion characterization. This article reviews the imaging features of the most common types of cystic liver lesions, which should help in determining an accurate diagnosis. With careful radiologic examination of lesions, it can be possible to prevent the need for cyst aspiration or needle biopsy.
