This technology permits thinner slices to be acquired during multiphasic scanning, with improved spatial resolution. The use of multiplanar reformatted images and 3-dimensional representations of the vascular structures helps in accurate staging of pancreatic tumors and aids in successful surgical resection. Since MDCT technologic advances facilitate early detection of small pancreatic lesions, they are likely to impact the treatment of pancreatic tumors.
