The authors’ limited experience with GISTs and a review of published data suggests that positron emission tomography imaging with 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose along with anatomic imaging is better than CT alone in the diagnosis, staging, restaging, and measurement of therapeutic response of these neoplasms.
