Whether the pain is chronic (e.g., osteoarthritis) or acute (e.g., posttraumatic internal derangement), MRI is the preferred imaging modality for further evaluation. MRI very accurately assesses tears of the menisci as well as the cruciate and collateral ligaments. MR is also very sensitive for the presence of bone-marrow edema, which can be seen in the acute setting (&quot;bone bruise&quot;) or in the chronic setting from osteoarthritis.</description><author></author><pubDate>Tuesday, 14 May 2002 20:02:29 GMT</pubDate></item></channel></rss>
