human diseases at the molecular level has given birth to the field
of gene therapy. Since the first human gene therapy study a decade
ago, there has been an explosion of research and clinical trials
trying to harness the potential of this new technology. In
cardiovascular medicine, there are ongoing trials of gene therapy
to treat patients with restenosis, heart failure, coronary artery
disease, and peripheral vascular disease. This review will address
the current state of cardiovascular gene therapy.</B>
