Hologic debuts technology to reduce mammography exam read times without compromising image quality, sensitivity or accuracy

Hologic has released the 3DQuorum™ Imaging Technology, powered by Genius AI™, a breakthrough AI-powered algorithm to expedite mammography exam reading time without compromising image quality, sensitivity or accuracy.

Imaging Technology, powered by Genius AI™.

3DQuorum technology uses Genius AI-powered analytics to uniquely reconstruct high-resolution 3D data to produce 6 mm “SmartSlices.” These analytics identify clinically relevant regions of interest and preserve important features during reconstruction of the SmartSlices. Each high-resolution SmartSlice overlaps the previous one by 3mm, ensuring there is no loss of 3D™ image data and continuity in scrolling.

SmartSlices expedite read time by reducing the number of images for radiologists to review, without compromising image quality, sensitivity or accuracy. With 3DQuorum technology, the number of 3D images to review is reduced by two-thirds, saving an average of one hour per eight hours of daily image interpretation time.

3DQuorum technology also reduces the typical Hologic® Clarity™ HD and Intelligent 2D study size by over 50%, bringing the storage space and network impact back down to that of standard resolution 3D imaging.

The Genius™ 3D Mammography™ exam (also known as the Genius™ exam) is only available on a Hologic 3D Mammography™ system. It consists of a 2D and 3D image set, where the 2D image can be either an acquired 2D image or a 2D image generated from the 3D image set. There are nearly 7,000 Hologic 3D Mammography systems in use in the U.S. alone, so women have convenient access to the Genius exam.

The company also launched a new breast diagnostic reading solution called Unifi™ Workspace, which integrates MRI, ultrasound and mammography into one dedicated platform. The highly anticipated multimodality workstation features pre-fetching capabilities and MRI tools, and is designed to enable more informed decision making and improved workflow efficiencies for radiologists.

Unifi Workspace also provides a personalized reading environment for each radiologist in the breast center. With the new system, each user will have the opportunity to create a customized interface with hanging protocols based on his or her individual preferences.
