Philips launches Zenition mobile C-arm platform

Royal Philips has launched the Zenition, a new mobile C-arm imaging platform, which it showcased at the annual European Congress of Radiology (ECR) held in Vienna this month. The company said that the new mobile CR will be introduced in Austria, German, Switzerland and the United States in the first half of 2019, with other market introductions to follow.

The Zenition incorporates innovations in image capture, image processing, ease of use, and versatility. It has a tablet-like user interface and simple workflow, with features to make point-and-shoot image capture fast and intuitive during any interventional or surgical procedure. Philips states that the need for C-arm repositioning can be reduced by 45% with the system’s Position Memory feature and BodySmart software, designed to capture fast and consistent images even at the edge of the image intensifier or flat detector.

The Zenition C-arm system incorporates the same image processing algorithms used on Philips’ Azurion platform, offering high-definition visualization of patient anatomies and a greater viewing area. The system’s image quality features include Philips’ MetalSmart software, which automatically adjusts the contrast and brightness of images to improve image quality when metal objects such as implants are present in the field of view.

Philips’ Zenition C-arms are CE marked and have received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
