Bracco, a global leader in diagnostic imaging, has announced an investment of $230 million to establish its first U.S. manufacturing facility for injectable contrast media in Sanford, North Carolina. The investment is expected to create 200 jobs and marks a pivotal development in Bracco's global manufacturing strategy, aimed at expanding production capacity and enhancing supply chain resilience in the United States, the company’s largest market.
Fulvio Renoldi Bracco, Vice Chairman and CEO of Bracco Imaging, stated, "For almost 100 years, Bracco has been guided by one purpose: improving people's lives. The United States is our largest market and home to many of the patients we serve. Producing injectable contrast media here in Sanford brings our supply closer to American hospitals and patients and makes it even more resilient. We chose North Carolina for its talent and life sciences ecosystem."
The new manufacturing facility will be state-of-the-art and designed to complement Bracco's existing production operations across Europe, Asia, and Canada, thus creating a more geographically diversified and resilient manufacturing network. With this new sterile manufacturing capacity, Bracco will be better equipped to meet growing demand and ensure efficient access to injectable contrast media used in diagnostic imaging.
Focusing on advanced manufacturing capabilities, the facility will adhere to the high standards of quality that are characteristic of Bracco's global operations, aligning with the company's mission to enhance diagnostic imaging and improve patient care.
Bracco's choice of Sanford is also influenced by the area's skilled workforce and supportive life sciences ecosystem. The anticipated jobs will span various sectors, including manufacturing, engineering, technical operations, quality assurance, warehousing, and administrative functions, contributing to the growth of North Carolina's life sciences sector.
This investment builds on Bracco's nearly century-long commitment to innovation in diagnostic imaging and highlights its ongoing dedication to enhancing manufacturing capabilities essential for supporting healthcare professionals and patients worldwide.
