European Society of Radiology Opens New Office in Brussels

The European Society of Radiology (ESR) will officially open its new office in Brussels on November 19, marking a significant milestone in its growth and representation of the European radiology community.

Located at Boulevard Charlemagne 1, adjacent to the European Commission, the office positions the ESR at the center of European health policy. This permanent establishment will facilitate closer interactions with EU institutions, policymakers, and partner organizations, thereby amplifying the voice of radiology in shaping healthcare discussions within Europe. Its placement within the International Press Center will also enhance press and media outreach capabilities.

The new office reflects ESR's expansion and the evolving requirements of the radiology field. As imaging becomes increasingly essential in sectors such as cancer screening, artificial intelligence, and digital health, the demand for radiology expertise in European policy dialogues is escalating.

The office is designed to foster collaboration within the imaging community. ESR will share the facility with the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM), which will have dedicated workspace in the building. This arrangement is expected to create new opportunities for interdisciplinary cooperation and communication between the two organizations.

Prof. Minerva Becker, Chair of the ESR Board of Directors, stated, "For radiologists, our responsibility increasingly extends beyond delivering excellent care to individual patients. Decisions made at European level influence how imaging is used; how new technologies are introduced and ultimately how our profession can contribute to better healthcare. Having a home in Brussels gives our community the opportunity to bring its clinical experience directly into these conversations to ensure that future policies reflect the realities of patient care."

The inaugural event will precede the ESR Annual Leadership Meeting (ALM), scheduled for November 20 at Concert Noble in Brussels. This gathering aims to update leaders from the European radiology community on ESR's recent developments and the state of radiology.

The opening of the Brussels office signals a new chapter for the ESR, providing the radiology community in Europe with a more formidable presence at the political epicenter of Europe, along with a dedicated platform for advocacy, partnership, and engagement.
