SMRMC Enhances Imaging Services with Philips Rembra CT

South Mississippi Regional Medical Center (SMRMC) is now utilizing the Philips Rembra CT system in its emergency and general radiology departments, aiming to enhance scanning speed and image reconstruction. This advancement may reduce the duration patients spend on the table and assist clinicians in managing high patient volumes in emergency settings where timely responses are crucial.

Brent Albritton, Director of Radiology at SMRMC, remarked, "As healthcare continues to evolve, our goal is to invest in technology that not only advances clinical care but also improves the patient experience. Our team is already seeing practical day-to-day benefits, including faster system initialization, more efficient image selection, helpful 3D tools, and easier patient positioning. These improvements are helping us meet demand while continuing to expand diagnostic services for our community here in McComb."

The FDA 510(k)-cleared Philips Rembra CT is specifically designed for acute imaging environments, combining advanced detector technology and AI-enabled workflows with rapid image reconstruction. This design aims to deliver images in near-real time, facilitating timely clinical decisions in emergency and trauma care scenarios. According to throughput testing, the Rembra CT can support up to 270 patient exams per day, which aids imaging departments in managing increasing patient demands.

Featuring the largest-in-class 85 cm bore, the Rembra CT system enhances patient access and positioning capabilities. SMRMC recognizes additional potential in developing its imaging services further, such as cardiac CT angiography and virtual colonoscopy, in line with the growth of its clinical programs and staffing.

Brian Murphy, Vice President and Head of Imaging for North America at Philips, stated, "Emergency departments are under constant pressure to move quickly while managing significant patient volumes and clinical complexity. For community hospitals like SMRMC, access to advanced imaging technology designed for speed, consistency, and workflow efficiency can help care teams get the information they need sooner and make more confident decisions when time matters most. With Philips’ Rembra CT, the hospital is strengthening emergency care and helping more patients access advanced imaging close to home."
