Bayer to Showcase Radiology Developments at ECR 2026

Bayer is set to unveil significant advancements within its radiology portfolio at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2026, occurring from March 4-8 in Vienna, Austria. The presentation will highlight innovations in contrast agents and injector technologies, alongside solutions designed to enhance connectivity and optimize clinical workflows.

A key focus of Bayer's sessions will be the investigational low-dose macrocyclic gadolinium-based contrast agent called gadoquatrane. The agent is undergoing evaluation in several Phase III clinical trials across various clinical settings, including abdominal and cardiac MRI, magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), and central nervous system imaging. Phase II and Phase III data supporting its pharmacokinetics will also be unveiled.

The clinical trials have tested gadoquatrane at a reduced gadolinium dose of 0.04 mmol Gd/kg body weight—a 60 percent reduction compared to traditional macrocyclic GBCAs dosed at 0.1 mmol Gd/kg body weight. Following favorable outcomes in these trials, Bayer has initiated applications for gadoquatrane’s marketing authorization in multiple regions, including Japan, the EU, the U.S., and China.

Nelson Ambrogio, President of Radiology at Bayer, emphasized the company’s ongoing commitment to the radiology sector. "The ECR provides a dynamic platform for scientific exchange and collaboration," he stated. “Bayer is dedicated to presenting cutting-edge science and supporting advancements that enhance clinical practice and patient outcomes.”

Minerva Becker, ECR 2026 Congress President, expressed that the congress fosters scientific growth within radiology through open communication and cooperative efforts. She acknowledged the contribution of industry partners like Bayer in shaping radiology's future through robust clinical science and technology.

Among the scheduled events at ECR 2026, Bayer will host sessions focused on neuroimaging, cardiovascular imaging, technical innovations in vascular imaging, and pharmacokinetics modeling of gadoquatrane. These sessions aim to highlight the agent's potential as a high-relaxivity contrast option with reduced gadolinium exposure, beneficial for both pediatric and adult populations.

Bayer remains devoted to advancing diagnostic imaging, building on a century of expertise. Its radiology portfolio spans a comprehensive range of products, including CT, x-ray, MRI, and PET imaging solutions, alongside data-driven informatics.
