Canon Medical Unveils AI Innovations in CT Imaging
July 14, 2026 · News Release

Canon Medical Systems USA has announced significant enhancements in its Computed Tomography (CT) technology portfolio, integrating cutting-edge AI capabilities to bolster imaging quality and streamline workflow efficiency. The recently introduced CLEAR Motion and Precise IQ Engine (PIQE) 1024 Matrix Deep Learning Reconstruction technologies are central to these advancements, aiming to provide high-resolution imaging with low radiation exposure.
CLEAR Motion technology, now part of Canon's Aquilion ONE premium CT series and the Aquilion Serve SP, employs deep learning-based motion correction directly on raw data. It is particularly beneficial for cardiac imaging by minimizing patient motion effects and improving image clarity without altering scan protocols or increasing radiation doses. The technology offers an industry-leading temporal resolution of 15.8 milliseconds in cardiac imaging, facilitating efficient clinical workflows.
Additionally, PIQE 1024 Deep Learning Reconstruction, available across Canon’s CT range, is designed to enhance the visualization of minute anatomical features by producing Super Resolution images utilizing ultra-high resolution data. This system is tailored to deliver superior noise-equivalent images, akin to those from photon-counting CT, and is applicable in various clinical settings, including body, lung, and cardiac imaging. It supports better low-contrast detectability and reduces blooming artifacts.
University of California, Davis Health has been a key collaborator in evaluating these technologies. At recent conferences such as RSNA 2025 and STR 2026, Dr. Ahmadreza Ghasemiesfe, Division Chief of Cardiothoracic Imaging, highlighted their impact. He noted the significant improvements in cardiac imaging quality and motion management, comparing the existing deep learning-based reconstructions favorably with photon-counting CT advancements.
Dhruv Mehta, Managing Director of Canon Medical Systems USA’s CT Business Unit, emphasized the expansion of Canon’s AI-driven applications, which enhance care quality and efficiency. These advancements broaden access to high-quality imaging to more patients who might not have qualified for CT scanning previously.
These innovations reinforce Canon Medical’s commitment to advancing patient care through technology. The company's focus on integrating meaningful AI solutions illustrates its dedication to bolstering healthcare outcomes by addressing clinical and operational needs effectively.
