Clarius Introduces AI-Driven T-Mode™ Heart for Cardiac Ultrasound Training
March 23, 2026 · News Release

Clarius Mobile Health, a leader in AI-powered handheld ultrasound technology, has unveiled T-Mode™ Heart. This new addition to the Clarius Intelligence suite aims to equip primary care physicians, medical students, and emergency clinicians with the skills to effectively perform cardiac ultrasound exams at the point-of-care.
Developed to address the need for rapid detection of cardiac dysfunction, T-Mode™ Heart simplifies the complex nature of cardiac anatomy. Utilizing real-time AI labeling, the tool aims to bridge the training gap in ultrasound adoption among novice users, particularly family physicians and medical students. During a live exam, the Clarius app displays a split-screen view: one side showing a standard grayscale ultrasound image, and the other an AI-generated, color-coded image with clear anatomical labels. This innovative feature enhances users' ability to confidently identify heart chambers and valves.
Dr. Brian Johnson, an emergency physician and ultrasound educator, has praised T-Mode™ Heart for its educational value. “When teaching, I often point to the left ventricle, right ventricle, left atrium, etc., but learners sometimes struggle to visualize them. T-Mode enables real-time learning, providing a robust support mechanism for learners who are uncertain,” he said.
In supporting primary care physicians with ultrasound training, T-Mode™ Heart has the potential to improve diagnostic accuracy in detecting significant heart conditions. As noted in the Journal of Primary Care, the use of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) for heart failure detection is critical, given its contribution to the global cardiovascular disease burden. “POCUS empowers family physicians to incorporate preventive medicine strategies through the detection of cardiac diseases in symptomatic patients,” explained Sarah Leverett, Vice President of Marketing at Clarius. “T-Mode Heart significantly reduces the uncertainty of image interpretation, accelerating the incorporation of ultrasound in everyday patient care.”
Expanding on the foundational technology of T-Mode™ Heart, Clarius has released T-Mode™ for Knee, addressing the prevalent issue of knee pain in primary care. This tool assists clinicians in mastering ultrasound scanning across various planes to identify markers for common knee injuries and pathologies. The availability of both T-Mode™ Heart and T-Mode™ Knee globally with Clarius App 12.2.6 promises to enhance in-office assessments and streamline patient referrals to specialists.
Both T-Mode tools are compatible with Clarius HD3 handheld ultrasound scanners and accessible through a Clarius Membership or a One Time License for Clarius Intelligence features.
