Fujifilm Introduces Innovative Balloon-less Endobronchial Ultrasound Bronchoscope
May 18, 2026 · News Release

FUJIFILM Healthcare Americas Corporation has unveiled its latest development in endoscopic imaging, the EB-710US Ultrasound Bronchoscope. This new endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) bronchoscope is designed to enhance workflow efficiency and imaging performance for pulmonologists. The introduction of the EB-710US marks a significant advancement in pulmonary care with its innovative balloon-less design.
The EB-710US bronchoscope incorporates several advanced features to improve clinical procedures. With a 180° bending capability, a slim 6.4mm distal end, and a narrow 5.9mm insertion tube, it offers increased maneuverability and access within the bronchial anatomy. Traditional EBUS scopes typically utilize a balloon at the tip to ensure consistent contact between the ultrasound probe and surrounding tissues. However, the balloon-less design of the EB-710US eliminates the potential contamination risks and additional costs associated with balloon usage. This design reduces preparation time, enhancing procedural efficiency by negating the need for precisely attaching a balloon and ensuring bubble-free ultrasound transmission.
Tai Fujita, Senior Vice President of the Endoscopy Division at FUJIFILM Healthcare Americas, commented, “With our new balloon-less EBUS scope, we’re removing unnecessary complexity while delivering exceptional ultrasound performance and simplifying workflow. Fujifilm’s EB-710US is rooted in listening to our clinician partners and reflects our commitment to advancing pulmonary care through smarter, safer technology.”
The bronchoscope's advanced features include a high-performance ultrasound transducer for enhanced resolution and tissue penetration, contributing to improved image clarity. It facilitates better access to lung peripheries and ensures a clear needle view for precise puncture alignment. A 120° field of view enhances visibility during procedures. Clinical studies have demonstrated the scope’s efficacy in accessing challenging mediastinal and peripheral targets without a balloon, underscoring its potential benefits in pulmonary interventions.
The EB-710US will be showcased at the American Thoracic Society Conference in Orlando, Florida, where attendees can experience the technology firsthand.
