GE HealthCare Reveals Enhanced AI-Integrated MRI Innovations at ISMRM 2026
May 11, 2026 · News Release

During the 2026 Annual Meeting of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM), GE HealthCare unveiled significant advancements in MRI technology that integrate artificial intelligence to improve diagnostic capabilities and research efficiency.
GE HealthCare is set to enhance its portfolio of MR technology with next-generation SIGNA MR systems. These innovations aim to expedite research processes, enhance collaboration, and translate technological breakthroughs into clinical successes. The advanced systems combine high-performance hardware with AI-driven software to decrease scanning times, improve imaging quality, and ensure data uniformity across studies.
Kelly Londy, President and CEO of MR and Women’s Health at GE HealthCare, stated, “Our goal is to empower researchers by equipping them with the necessary tools to explore new questions, enable collaboration, and ultimately broaden the clinical impact of their findings."
Among the key AI-driven technologies introduced is the Sonic DL, an advanced deep-learning acceleration method. Pending U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance, Sonic DL promises to enhance up to 85% of MR examinations. Enhancements by this technique will optimize image quality and Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) for both 2D and 3D imaging.
GE HealthCare also showcased SIGNA One, an AI-driven workflow designed to optimize the MRI process by streamlining operations, reducing variability, and improving user experiences. This platform offers intuitive AI-guided interfaces and allows seamless transitions between clinical and research modalities, facilitating comprehensive collaboration and reproducibility in MR research programs.
Further expanding its MRI capabilities, GE HealthCare introduced the SIGNA Bolt, a next-generation 3T MRI system that merges deep-learning capabilities with sustainable practices. This system aims to simplify imaging pathways, support precision diagnostics, and minimize operational expenses.
The SIGNA Sprint features Freemium technology, which provides helium-free operation without compromising on efficiency or image quality, further underscoring GE HealthCare’s commitment to operational sustainability.
Additionally, GE HealthCare is enhancing its AIR Recon DL technology to support Zero Echo Time (ZTE) and low-acoustic noise imaging. This advancement serves to shorten scan durations and improve the image quality of ZTE exams, expanding the potential for non-ionizing radiation alternatives like lung and bone imaging techniques.
The company also introduced SIGNA Studio, which provides a suite of software tools for MR research and development, designed to improve accessibility and deployment speed for researchers. Continuing its focus on neuroscientific advances, GE HealthCare is advancing its MAGNUS prototype, a head-only MR system, to facilitate deeper exploration into brain imaging techniques at institutions such as King’s College London and West China Hospital.
These innovations reflect GE HealthCare’s ongoing commitment to furthering MRI research capabilities and improving patient outcomes through cutting-edge technological integration.
