Royal Philips has unveiled its latest CT system, the Rembra CT, at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2026 in Vienna. Engineered to address the growing demands of acute and high-pressure imaging environments, this new system promises to enhance diagnostic confidence through its advanced features and efficiency.
The Rembra CT system boasts impressive capabilities with its cutting-edge image reconstruction technology, delivering up to 106 images per second. This rapid processing capability is designed to support up to 270 patient scans daily, facilitating near-instantaneous image availability, which is crucial in urgent clinical situations. The system's 85 cm bore—the largest in its class—accommodates a wide range of patient needs, including complex interventions, bariatric imaging, and trauma cases. This feature is expected to improve patient comfort and minimize the need for rescans.
Utilizing the NanoPanel Precise XD detector with integrated AI, the Rembra CT system achieves dose-efficient and high-resolution imaging. This innovation is poised to provide clear visualization and precise delineation of anatomical structures, enhancing diagnostic accuracy.
Dan Xu, Philips' Business Leader for Computed Tomography, emphasized the significance of Rembra's development: “Rembra is built for the realities that clinicians face every day. By combining our most advanced detector technology with AI-powered workflows and industry-leading speed, Rembra represents a significant step forward for high-acuity imaging.”
Professor Olivier Rouvière, MD, PhD, Head of Department at Hospices Civils de Lyon, highlighted the system's advantages for interventional and high-acuity settings: “Rembra’s 85 cm bore supports improved access as well as faster and safer positioning of long needles and instruments in complex procedures.”
The Rembra CT system also integrates AI-enabled smart workflows, automating routine steps to simplify operations and improve efficiency. Designed to operate reliably at altitudes of up to 5000m, the system is engineered for durability, supporting a 20-year lifespan with necessary maintenance and upgrades. Additionally, Philips' Tube for Life service program provides a decade of cost predictability by covering tube replacement costs.
Alongside Rembra, Philips is debuting Verida, an AI-powered spectral CT at ECR 2026. Initially introduced at RSNA 2025, Verida underscores Philips’ commitment to advancing spectral CT technology, delivering exceptional image quality and improved workflow efficiencies.
With its focus on enhancing high-demand imaging environments, Philips' Rembra CT system is set to set a new benchmark in radiological diagnostics.
