Philips Unveils AI-Enhanced Ultrasound System for High-Volume Clinical Use
July 27, 2026 · News Release

Royal Philips has introduced the Alturion ultrasound system, now equipped with AI-powered workflow capabilities to improve efficiency and clinical decision-making in high-volume clinical settings. After receiving both FDA 510(k) clearance and the CE mark, this system is now available in the United States and Europe.
Facing heightened demands and operational complexities, healthcare providers are in need of solutions that enhance efficiency while maintaining quality. The Philips Alturion meets this need by integrating advanced imaging and AI-enabled workflows into a unified platform that supports streamlined examinations and consistent results across various clinical environments.
Jie Xue, Chief Business Leader of Precision Diagnosis at Philips, expressed the company’s commitment to developing technologies that address the complexities of modern healthcare. Xue stated, "At Philips, our goal is to develop technology that adapts to the realities of modern healthcare and helps care teams work more effectively in increasingly demanding clinical environments. Alturion was designed with that goal in mind, helping healthcare providers deliver high-quality care with greater efficiency and confidence."
The Alturion system features a responsive processing architecture that facilitates superior performance and visualization, making it adaptable for diverse patient profiles and examination types. Its 24-inch monitor and compact design ensure easy mobility between departments, effectively supporting both space utilization and bedside care. Streamlined, intuitive workflows minimize manual adjustments and examination time, allowing healthcare providers to better handle high patient volumes while maintaining a familiar user interface for simplicity and team consistency.
Additionally, the Alturion includes Elevate Plus with AI-driven measurements specific to abdominal ultrasound. Its AI-enhanced capabilities promote the automation of measurements and support reproducibility, reducing variability and saving time to ensure more consistent exam outcomes.
Importantly, Alturion is part of Philips' broader connected ultrasound ecosystem. Featuring interchangeable transducers compatible with Philips' EPIQ Elite and Affiniti systems, the platform facilitates a standardized training process, accelerates onboarding, and ensures consistent workflow across departments. Its system is designed for upgradeability and integrates with Collaboration Live for remote support and training opportunities.
