Positron Corp. Secures $2M to Accelerate PET-CT System Expansion
January 5, 2026 · News Release

Positron Corp., a long-time innovator in cardiac imaging, has raised $2 million in capital to advance the commercial development of its next-generation PET-CT system. The funding will be used to support product development, regulatory submissions, entry into new markets and expansion of clinical and service capabilities.
The company is focused on bringing a cost-effective, high-performance PET-CT solution to a broader segment of the healthcare market. Developed in collaboration with Neusoft Medical Systems, the new system is tailored to meet the needs of cardiology practices and hospitals seeking more advanced molecular imaging capabilities. The timing aligns with the growing adoption of cardiac PET imaging, which offers superior diagnostic performance compared to conventional SPECT systems, particularly in detecting microvascular disease and assessing myocardial blood flow.
“We are encouraged by the continued support from investors, which reflects growing confidence in Positron’s strategy and long-term growth potential,” said Adel Abdullah, president of Positron Corp. “An improved balance sheet positions the company to expand its market presence, increase system placements, and advance the next generation of our PET-CT technology.”
Over the past several years, cardiac PET has seen increasing use in nuclear cardiology due to its enhanced image quality, reduced scan times and ability to provide quantifiable data, including myocardial flow reserve. These advantages have made the modality particularly valuable for evaluating complex coronary disease and improving diagnostic accuracy in patients with unclear symptoms.
Positron aims to leverage this trend by offering a dedicated cardiac PET-CT solution that delivers advanced functionality at a more accessible price point. The system is also being configured for oncology applications, allowing it to serve as a dual-purpose or shared-service platform. This flexibility is expected to appeal to outpatient imaging centers, private practices and community hospitals seeking to maximize return on investment while expanding diagnostic offerings.
The new PET-CT scanner represents a significant evolution from Positron’s earlier systems, incorporating updated detector technology and workflow enhancements that align with current clinical and reimbursement demands. According to the company, the design emphasizes ease of use, fast acquisition times and seamless integration into existing imaging environments.
The $2 million was raised through the sale of approximately 1.3 million shares of Positron stock. The company described the investment as a key step toward increasing installations of the new system, while also supporting regulatory milestones and broader commercialization efforts.
While Positron remains deeply rooted in cardiac imaging, the decision to expand into oncology reflects the growing demand for PET across specialties. As more providers adopt PET-CT to meet evolving clinical needs, Positron sees an opportunity to become a more versatile player in the molecular imaging space. With this new infusion of capital, the company is aiming to accelerate its transition into a broader commercial phase and bring its technology to more patients worldwide.
