Radiology Partners Expands Global Reach with Everlight Radiology Acquisition

Radiology Partners, Inc. has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Everlight Radiology, a prominent teleradiology provider. This acquisition aims to establish a leading global presence in the teleradiology sector by combining the strengths of Everlight's international network and Radiology Partners' U.S.-based vRad unit.

The acquisition, pending customary regulatory approvals, brings together two significant players in radiology services, broadening subspecialty coverage across the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. Both entities will continue servicing their current markets and clients, leveraging shared technology and maintaining clinical standards. This approach will enhance client experience through tools and quality standards proven across both businesses.

The global radiologist shortage remains a pressing issue, underscored by data from the Royal College of Radiologists highlighting a 9% increase in demand for CT and MRI in 2024-25 compared to a 4.7% growth in the workforce. Similar trends are noted in Australia, where diagnostic imaging demand has surged, outpacing radiologist supply. Health systems worldwide face challenges, particularly during off-peak hours, accentuating the need for teleradiology solutions to bridge these gaps.

Teleradiology serves as a vital tool for addressing these challenges through strategic load and subspecialty balancing, as well as technological standardization and AI application. Both Radiology Partners and Everlight have invested in advancing technology to enhance radiologist productivity and maintain high standards of care. Everlight has developed, through an in-house technology team, leading AI capabilities, while Radiology Partners has invested heavily through its vRad and Mosaic Clinical Technologies divisions.

Founded in 2006, Everlight operates on a "follow-the-sun" model, providing around-the-clock coverage by utilizing radiologists across multiple time zones. This model allows urgent studies initiated overnight in one region to be read by specialists in another during their daytime hours. Everlight's network includes over 800 radiologists working across 40 countries, reporting upwards of 2.5 million exams annually.

Radiology Partners, with its RP Clinical Services, serves over 3,400 healthcare facilities in the United States and has been a forerunner in teleradiology since 2001 via vRad. The integration of Everlight will not alter daily operations for clients, with Everlight maintaining its leadership and continuity in service quality.

Rob Anderson, Global CEO of Everlight Radiology stated, "Joining Radiology Partners will provide our radiologists access to additional clinical resources and scale, while preserving the high standards our clients rely on."

The acquisition is expected to close following regulatory clearance, solidifying Radiology Partners' position as a leading force in global teleradiology.
