Siemens Healthineers to Co-Lead Pan-European Alzheimer’s Research Effort

Siemens Healthineers will co-lead a major new European Union research initiative aimed at improving how Alzheimer’s disease is diagnosed, treated, and monitored. The project, named ACCESS-AD, is set to launch in January 2026 and will bring together more than 30 partners from across Europe, including hospitals, universities, patient advocacy groups, and industry leaders.

The five-year initiative is designed to establish a collaborative and patient-centered approach to Alzheimer’s care. It will be co-funded by the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI), a public-private partnership between the European Union and the life sciences industry. Clinical leadership will come from Amsterdam University Medical Center, with King’s College London and Gates Ventures also serving as project co-leads.

Siemens Healthineers will lead the industrial contribution to the project, playing a central role in shaping how technological solutions are integrated across the Alzheimer’s care continuum. The company will contribute its expertise in advanced diagnostics, particularly in imaging and early detection, to support each stage of the patient pathway.

The initiative includes the development and validation of new technologies and diagnostic tools—from blood-based biomarkers for early detection to MRI and PET imaging for diagnosis and ongoing therapy monitoring. These efforts are part of a broader Alzheimer’s ecosystem that Siemens Healthineers is helping to shape, with the goal of improving clinical outcomes and quality of life for patients.

By combining technological innovation with clinical and academic collaboration, ACCESS-AD aims to lay the foundation for more unified, effective Alzheimer’s care across Europe.
