Fujifilm Unveils Next-Generation Automation for FDR Visionary Suite Digital Radiography
FUJIFILM Healthcare Americas Corporation, a leader in medical imaging and informatics, has announced the addition of advanced automation capabilities to its FDR Visionary Suite digital radiography room. These upgrades are tailored for high-volume hospital radiology departments and imaging centers, with the aim of streamlining workflows, improving positioning accuracy, and enhancing both patient and technologist experiences across a broad range of general radiology exams.
A key highlight of the upgrade is the Intelligent Camera Assist system, built into the suite’s collimator. This feature provides a live patient view directly from the control room, helping technologists with real-time positioning guidance. Optional motion detection further supports accuracy, reducing the likelihood of repeat exposures. Another tool, SpeedLink™, automatically adjusts preferred imaging techniques and collimation field sizes for each selected exam, enabling consistent, dose-efficient imaging.
Additional automation tools—such as positioning overlays and pre-exposure motion detection alerts—work together to minimize setup time and avoid retakes, ultimately leading to faster, more reliable imaging sessions.
Beyond automation, Fujifilm designed the FDR Visionary Suite with patient comfort and accessibility in mind. The system accommodates patients of varying sizes and mobility levels, with a motorized, height-adjustable tabletop and a weight capacity of up to 649 lbs. Its capabilities include automatic long-length image capture—up to 63 inches upright and 47 inches supine—along with motion correction software that compensates for slight patient movement. With the ability to capture images in as little as 20 seconds, the suite supports a more efficient and comfortable experience for patients.
Rob Fabrizio, director of strategic marketing for diagnostic imaging at FUJIFILM Healthcare Americas Corporation, emphasized the system’s dual focus on performance and patient care. “Built for performance and exceptional patient care, the advanced features and automation of FDR Visionary Suite are designed to enable clinicians to perform routine and complex exams with impressive speed, accuracy and repeatability,” Fabrizio said. “With increased workflow efficiency and consistent accuracy, radiographers can better focus on the patient and speed diagnosis and treatment.”
The FDR Visionary Suite is powered by Fujifilm’s latest digital radiography detectors, recognized for their ultra-low dose capabilities and high image quality. This is achieved through a combination of cesium iodide detectors and Fujifilm’s patented Irradiation Side Sampling (ISS) technology, which enhances clarity and sharpness.
Complementing the hardware is the FDX Console, a robust acquisition station equipped with Fujifilm’s Dynamic Visualization image processing. This intelligent feature automatically identifies key characteristics within the region of interest and applies optimized processing parameters to the entire exposure field. The result is improved visibility, contrast, and image adjustment options—giving radiologists greater diagnostic confidence.
The enhanced FDR Visionary Suite is now available for delivery within the United States, offering radiology departments a powerful blend of automation, patient-centered design, and cutting-edge imaging technology. More details are available on Fujifilm’s product page.
