Bracco held the second edition of the Global CEUS Steering Committee, gathering multidisciplinary experts in contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) to facilitate scientific exchange and future development of the technology.
This meeting follows an initiative that began in China in 2025, where Bracco initially assembled CEUS specialists from various fields to share insights on this evolving area. This year’s meeting took place in Munich, in conjunction with the EUROSON School, involving 14 international experts, including representatives from Bracco Medical and R&D. The discussions focused on emerging clinical needs, scientific advancements, and research opportunities influencing CEUS adoption.
The Steering Committee acts as a lasting, multidisciplinary network that links the international CEUS community with Bracco through ongoing collaboration. Insights generated through this initiative are expected to highlight areas for additional research, evidence generation, and innovation in CEUS applications.
Antonella Filippone, Head of Medical Affairs & Scientific Information at Bracco, stated, "As CEUS continues to expand across clinical settings, there is a valuable opportunity to bring together experts from different specialties and regions and learn from their diverse perspectives. Through the Global CEUS Steering Committee, we aim to build lasting relationships and foster ongoing scientific exchange. By bringing together multidisciplinary expertise and perspectives, we can help advance the clinical adoption of CEUS and support more patient-friendly diagnostic pathways through a non-invasive imaging approach that has the potential to improve patient experience and support clinical decision-making."
The discussions also addressed scientific and technological advancements likely to shape the future of CEUS, including innovations in super-resolution imaging, software applications, and artificial intelligence. Experts assessed potential diagnostic and therapeutic applications as well as strategies to enhance clinical workflows and consider healthcare and economic factors related to CEUS adoption.
Victor Jeannot, R&D Program Manager at Bracco, emphasized the importance of understanding the potential of current technologies alongside evolving clinical needs, stating, "Bringing together expertise from different disciplines can help identify important questions for future research and provide a broader view of emerging technologies and their potential role in CEUS. That perspective can help focus future investigation on areas with the potential to advance the field."
The Global CEUS Steering Committee will reconvene annually to maintain engagement and collaboration among experts and Bracco while also interacting with the broader scientific community, including scientific societies. This ongoing dialogue aims to enhance the understanding and application of CEUS across regions and disciplines.
