Available now, the Merge Imaging platform has been introduced with new features including AssignIQ and modules for lung and lesion tracking, aimed at enhancing radiologists' workflows and improving efficiency within imaging teams.

Merge Imaging operates as a cloud-native platform integrating radiology, cardiology, and clinical imaging workflows across institutions. It aims to assist clinicians and IT departments in scaling workload capacity, expediting technology implementation, and establishing a unified source of truth.

The new AssignIQ feature, part of the AI workflow orchestration layer MergeIQ, enhances operational efficiency through advanced study assignment, ensuring that the appropriate cases are matched to the right specialists promptly.

In addition to AssignIQ, the platform has also upgraded its lung nodule and lesion tracking modules. These enhancements facilitate the simplified assessment of changes over time and streamline follow-up processes for radiologists.

According to Ashish Sant, executive vice president and general manager at Merge, "We're focused on making radiologists' day-to-day work easier, giving them practical tools that work together, so they can spend less time navigating fragmented systems and more time focused on patient care."

Merge Imaging’s integrated approach consolidates image management, viewing, reading, orchestration, and AI functionalities within one platform. It provides a comprehensive user experience, offering the same tools and interfaces for all users, thus minimizing the need for specialized training across different departments.

The platform supports both DICOM and non-DICOM data, functioning as a vendor-neutral source that adapts to the needs of various healthcare organizations, ranging from single facilities to large multi-site systems.

Key features of the new platform include role-based access, centralized control, and AI governance, alongside insights provided by MergeIQ at the point of reading. MergeIQ enhances study assignment accuracy and delivers relevant prior information to clinicians without requiring additional logins or navigation through multiple applications.

In terms of clinical applications, the unified lung tracking module incorporates findings, measurements, and previous imaging reports to facilitate assessment and structured follow-up. Meanwhile, the general lesion tracking module consolidates consistent assessments of findings and measurements across different examinations and modalities.

Research indicates that an estimated 1.5 million patients in the U.S. are diagnosed annually with incidental pulmonary nodules. However, a 2022 analysis revealed follow-up rates for these lesions were notably low, between 29% and 39%. With the new clinical tracking capabilities, Merge Imaging aims to help radiologists improve follow-up care.

Demonstrations of the Merge Imaging platform, including AssignIQ, RelevancyIQ, NaviIQ, and the lung and lesion tracking modules, will be available at booth #8113 in the North Hall during RSNA 2026, which runs from November 29 to December 3 at McCormick Place in Chicago.
